Looks great, less filling. November 22, 2008 The images were glossy, but not always in the best focus or well-picked. And without seeing the show first, it would be hard to follow. The dialogue jumped about and didn't make a lot of sense. It was okay, my students were lukewarm about it (Hellsing is part of our in-class extra-reading material), and I wasn't impressed. It's bright, it's beautiful, it's gory, but it's lacking in actual substance. Worth skimming through if you've already seen the movies and want hard copy of some of the best scenes--although the images are small and sometimes blurry. I rate it a solid "eh."
First there was the manga. January 7, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Then there were the anime which was not totally based on the manga. Now there is the manga based on the anime. A nice, full color, first of many manga volumes based on the anime that was grand. I suggest this manga for those who either really prefered the anime or just wish to collect anything and everything about Hellsing.
Not part of the Manga series... February 28, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I thought this was part of the Hellsing Manga series. It is not. This is a Manga style "novelization" of the very popular Anime tv series. Literally. They took still images directly from the anime and formed a graphic novel out of them. There is nothing new and the story differs from the Manga (as the Anime did). U
nlike the usual Manga, all the pages are full color and glossy. Unfortunately, it appears to be an attempt to cash in on the popularity of Hellsing in the US without giving the fans anything new. I only recommend this for Hellsing collectors/completists.
