 Good moves but boring January 8, 2009

Great great workout for beginners to intermediates. If you don't have a problem with being motivated, this is a great workout dvd. For me, though, the music is boring and Jillian has no perosnality. Turbo Jam is more my thing. With 30 day shred I can't wait for it to be over. With TJ, I go twice as long, burn more calories, and have way more fun.

I am an exercise DVD and equipment junkie. Treadmill, Bowflex, Fluidity Bar, Tae Bo, Power 90, Zumba, pilates...you name it, I've got it. I have many good workout DVDs, but usually do not have forty minutes to an hour to block out to work out everyday. Jillian has done a very good job of packing a challenging workout into 20 minutes. The movements are simple, yet executed very effectively. I can get up at a decent hour (6 AM), do this workout and still get my kids to school (and myself to work) on time. It's great, because I am motivated to get up and do it since I know I can get it done and get on with my day. I definitely feel the burn.
One reviewer complained that they did not feel enough burn on the upper body strength and ab exercises. If you need more of an upper body challenge, you may try increasing your weight. To intensify the ab workouts, one might do them on an exercise ball or add weight during this portion. I use my rebounder for some of the cardio portion which enhances the movement and reduces impact.
As for those who have said it is boring, I don't find it boring at all. But then, I want an effective workout--not to be entertained. I have a few boring workout videos--this is not one of them. I guess it's a matter of personal taste. I'm glad to have it in my exercise library.

Wow, this is a great DVD. But prepare to work - Jillian is TOUGH. She is also very encouraging though, without being annoying or obnoxious...I like her style and look forward to continuing to use this DVD on a regular basis.
 30 day shred is effective and entertaining January 7, 2009
I purchased 30 day shred for myself not knowing what really to expect. Jillian basically breaks it down in to 3 minutes of cardio, 2 minutes of strength and then 1 minute of abs. She repeats this cycle in various forms over the course of half an hour. The fast paced environment and quick changes keep this exercise from being boring. I will say that I was unable to do it for 30 days straight as it was too strenuous! I needed a day off to rest my arms. This is only based on the level one workout and the DVD does contain 3 levels. When I started her video I could only do 3 pushups. 2 months later I am able to do 53 pushups. I liked this video so much I got a copy for my mom for Christmas. It's effective, it's fast paced, it's entertaining and it works.
