Product Description Ash, Dawn and Brock continue to collect and train new Pokemon on their travels. Along the way they meet up with Pokemon fossils brought back to life and a mercenary Pokemon thief who can out-thieve even Team Rocket! But if those challenges can't bring our heroes down, nothing can! Except maybe a Pokemon dress-up competition?!
Amazon.com Ash, Dawn, Brock, and Pikachu continue their journey through the Sinnoh region, the setting for the Diamond and Pearl adventure and the same version of the video game. On his second try, Ash defeats Roarke in the Oreburg Gym to win the Coal Badge. Dawn scores her first success as a Coordinator, earning the Floaroma Ribbon; Brock and his Croagunk come from behind to take the title in a Pokemon dress-up contest. His prize is an egg from an unknown type of Pokemon. Ash, Brock, and Misty learn to make the Pokemon snack called Poffins, which are as much bother in the animated series as they are in the game. The adventurers meet Cheryl, a treasure hunter hoping to realize her grandfather's dream, and spend several episodes with her looking for the Amber Castle where super-sweet Magic Honey is hidden. Jessie, James, and Meowth of Team Rocket supply comic villainy. But their slapstick failures are eclipsed by the arrival of Jey, an evil hunter who traps Pokemon in a sand-like substance and sells them to the highest bidder. She eludes the efforts of Officer Jenny and the regular cast to capture her, and will certainly reappear in later episodes. The addition of a serious villain shifts the tone of this long-running fantasy-adventure. (Rated A, suitable for All Ages: minor cartoon violence.) --Charles Solomon 18.
