Crusher Joe is an anime classic that is much in line with the sort of science fiction that was popular in the early-to-mid part of this century. Joe and his band of "Crushers" (interstellar trouble-shooters) have two 50-minute adventures on this tape. In the first, they have to stop an asteroid from crashing into a planet--the only problem being that the asteroid is being used as a penal colony for political dissidents, and the planetary government might not mind an 'accident.' The second is even better, with Joe & Co. racing against the military to recover a stolen weapon on a jungle planet that's been overrun with self-reproducing biomechanical weapons (imagine floating eyeballs that open up, clamp around your head, and explode). The animation is great, and action is nonstop (especially in the second one). Very highly recommended.
